What is Colour Design and Styling?
Colour Design and Styling, for the interior or exterior, is the formulation of a decorating scheme in response to a brief. It takes into account the elements and principles of design, colour psychology and colour theory, all applied to a built environment, to create stunning and harmonious spaces. No single component of design can do this alone; it is a fusion of all aspects of decorating, including colour, lighting, flooring and fabrics.
What is the Process?
Your requirements are carefully recorded during a detailed one-to-one consultation at which time a brief is established. This usually takes 1-2 hours depending on the number of items requiring specification. Your likes and dislikes, use of space, the demography of the property’s inhabitants, the aspect and age of the property, retaining items and period features, required mood and style, lighting, and so on, are discussed and then considered in the formulation of the design. A suitable, effective, fully comprehensive and personalized colour scheme and style file is then produced. For an interior, this often includes a ‘core palette’ of colour to be used throughout the property, with additional accent and feature colours and fabrics for each room, but it can be whatever you require. The involvement of the colour designer/stylist in your design can be as little or as much as you would like it to be.
What is the Outcome?
The complete specification, or decorating scheme, is presented to you in the form of a unique ‘Client Specification Folder’. This is yours to keep and use as a reference document. It includes detailed information with regards to suppliers along with samples and documents that assist the trades-people involved in bringing your project to life.
